Over the weekend, news broke of Louis Vuitton’s latest Spring/Summer 2016 campaign. Jaden Smith, actor-rapper & Will Smith‘s son, featured in this campaign wearing a skirt. Take a look.
The photograph has models Jean Campbell, Sarah Brannon, and Rianne Von Rompaey posing next to Jaden in “womenswear” with Jaden also in a skirt. Jaden wearing a skirt is a big statement because it’s nice to see a mainstream, male celebrity squash gender stereotypes that tell us as humans, what we can wear and what we can’t, what we can be and what we can’t. While a lot of us are talking about equal rights and Caitlyn Jenner is able to come out as a woman and be cheered for it, more celebrities supporting the cause of a free, happy, and equal world for all is always a good thing. Plus, we love Louis Vuitton for this concept. It’s great to see a fashion powerhouse open fashion up space to break more stereotypes and according to Jaden’s Instagram caption: ‘Thank You So Much @louisvuitton And @nicolasghesquiere For The Opportunity To Impact This World,’ looks like he agrees!
What do you guys think?
