If the thought of subjecting your precious makeup to high temperatures is breaking you out in cold sweat, then don’t worry because we aren’t referring to that kind of baking! Baking or cooking your makeup is the latest technique that’s making its way into the beauty world, and aims to highlight your best features – without using any shimmer.
This first step to this method, involves using a primer on your face to create a smooth and long-lasting canvas. Next, use a damp sponge to blend in your foundation. For extra coverage, layer on a creamy concealer where needed.
Now for the main bit! Pick a fluffy brush and dust on a thick coat of face powder over the areas you want to highlight. Areas such as your cheekbones, under the eyes and the bridge of your nose are popular choices. Once you are done, let the coat of powder sit on your face (i.e. bake) for 10-20 minutes. Then, sweep away the excess.
The key to this technique is using the right kind of powder. Avoid pressed powders and instead opt for loosely milled formulas. Either pick a shade that is a shade lighter than your skin tone, or go for a translucent powder.
Not only does baking bring forth your best features, but it also ensures that your makeup stays put for longer. Although it sounds easy, this method requires a lot of patience and great blending skills! While it may not be suitable for daily use, this technique is a saviour for when you are going to get photographed a lot. Try it out and be prepared to be blown away by your pictures!
