Rajeev Masand‘s Actor’s Round Table 2015 was a joy to watch. The participants included Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Ranveer Singh. While we got fun stories like Raveena Tandon asking security to remove Ranveer from the sets, we also got rather interesting stories about the workings in Bollywood. Akshay and Varun had no qualms in talking about multiple award functions we have and what a joke they’re turning out to be.
Varun:
What is an award show? It’s like a TV show! I’ll be very honest, if I get one also I’ll go very happily and maybe even cry on stage. If the organizers give me money to perform, I’ll do that as well. But the last true award I had won was in a 100 meter race in school. Now they make the actor feel like it’s some software.
Akshay:
I’m telling you, a lot of times I get calls, they say we’ll give you award but please perform on stage at half your price. I tell them keep your awards, give me the entire amount!
It’s refreshing to see such honesty isn’t it?
