Veteran journalist Subhash K Jha wrote a rather interesting article for Firstpost on the ten interesting facts about Bajirao Mastani that not many people know about. Everyone knows how badly Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted Salman Khan to play Bajirao and Aishwarya Rai to play Mastani, but when the couple broke up, getting them to work together became impossible. But, not many people know that Salman was very keen on making Katrina Kaif his Mastani. So much so, that he personally took Katrina to Sanjay’s home and introduced her to the director saying, ‘This is your Mastani.’ Fortunately or unfortunately (depends on your preference), things didn’t work out and finally, after a lot of years, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone were cast.
