Yesterday, I blogged about these life-saving acne patches that, unfortunately, still don’t seem to be available in India. Someone… please get these here! It is my humble request. That being said, skincare and all aside, we still need our makeup to be flawless on a day-to-day basis. Acne care is one thing, but it doesn’t all just go away in a day, does it? Well, at least there’s no miracle cure just yet. Till then, here are 5 neat little tricks you can use to allow better makeup application on acne.
#1 Start With A Clean & Fresh Canvas
Start with a clean canvas. Once you’re through with your cleanser and toner routine, apply a layer of oil-free, or gel moisturizer all over your face. The basics are what really let your makeup pop!
#2 Prime
The more you moisturize and prime your skin, the better. While moisturizer primes itself, go for another layer of color-correcting primer. It will help tone down pigmentation and redness on your acne.
#3 Reduce The Redness
Yes, I’m talking about eyedrops. This has to be one of my favorites. Use a cotton bud to apply a drop or two on your inflamed acne. It’s a sensitive product for the eye that constricts the blood vessels. It has the same effect on acne and can reduce redness significantly. Try this step after the primer, if you’re going to do it.
#4 Concealer
Use a liquid concealer in a yellowish tone that is either the exact same color or a color that is only one shade darker than your skin. Use a concealer brush to apply this in an ‘x’ motion over your acne and then use a sponge to gently dab the concealer and blend. You can add some to your under eyes as well.
#5 BB Cream/Foundation
Use a good BB Cream or light foundation that allows your skin to breathe all over your face. Most of the coverage is done, so use a stippling brush for an airbrushed finish. Let your skin look like skin.
While makeup is great when you want to get out and feel good about your skin, don’t forget to thoroughly remove your makeup as soon as you’re home. We really don’t want our skin’s condition to deteriorate! Plus, try not to leave too much makeup on for over 5-6 hours. A minimum amount of time is best. Try these tricks out and let us know how they work!
