Kajol is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors of our times. She has an amazing Bollywood career to boast of and over the years, she’s done some very good work. However, even the best of us sometimes falter when it comes to decision-making every now and then. And, of course, sometimes circumstances don’t allow us to do the right thing. 1. Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna
Okay, not exactly a superhit but definitely a milestone in Karan Johar‘s career. It was the first time KJo was attempting something “different” and really wanted his best friend Kajol to be in it. Kajol, however, was busy with Aamir Khan‘s Fanaa and couldn’t spare dates for this project. She did make a cameo in KANK though, and the role offered to her subsequently went to Rani Mukerji.
2. Dil To Pagal Hai
The role that got Karisma Kapoor a National Award for Dil To Pagal Hai was first offered to Kajol. However, Kajol wasn’t really down to play “supporting actress” in a film.
3. Chalte Chalte
The most infamous story about Chalte Chalte is the spat between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Apparently, bhai had created a ruckus on the sets when his then girlfriend Aishwarya Rai was the lead in the film. Ash lost out on the role but before Rani stepped in, the role was offered to Kajol.
Kajol couldn’t do the film because of her busy schedule.
4. 3 Idiots
Why would you say no to Rajkumar Hirani?
Kareena Kapoor Khan went on to play the role Kajol passed on. Psst… Apparently, it wasn’t a date problem.
5. Dil Se

Manisha Koirala went on to play the role Kajol passed on.
6. Veer Zara
Legend has it that Kajol turned Yash Chopra down because she didn’t think Zara’s role was meaty enough. Erm.
Preity Zinta stepped in for the role, flawlessly. Erm.
