The Celebrity-Approved Style Trick That Will Transform Your Look

After print-on-print and colour-blocking, most people have forgotten the simplicity that lies in wearing a single colour. Last week, Team MissMalini‘s Natasha did a post about celebrities who wear tone on tone (read it here). It’s something that I’ve been doing for a while, but thought I’d take it up a notch today.

After the classic black and white, military or khaki green is one of my favourite colours and I have a whole lot of separates in the shade; although the tones may vary slightly. Today, I’ve paired my khaki jumpsuit with a military green vest and paired it with strappy stilettos in the same colour family. Sure it’s a whole lot of green, but the tone-on-tone tends to pull your look together and for a short girl like me, it makes you look taller.

Very often, I do the same thing with black, blush pink, white and nude too. Tan is a shade that might be slightly tricky to carry off unless you’re Kim Kardashian, but if you adjust the tones slightly, it’s nothing you can’t handle. Here are a few styling options…

Tan Tone-on-Tone

Black Tone-on-Tone

Nude Tone-on-Tone

You could still call it colour-blocking within the same family and sure, it’s a very minimal look to put on – but I can assure you that it’s a trend that suits anyone, you just need to play around till you find the right shade.
