Wearing the same outfit as another person is most likely considered as a fashion faux pas. But when it comes down to looking like your BFF, who cares? Partners in crime at work, and occasionally at Colaba Social, Anushka Mulchandani and I have different body shapes but that doesn’t stop us from showing up to work in the exact same dungarees and ganjee look.
Being true fashionistas at heart, we know that the beginning of each new season comes with the territory. As the leaves change, so will the choice of outfits in your wardrobe. It might not really feel or look like fall just yet (Bombay people know what I mean), but a fresh new season doesn’t always have to mean a stressful mind when it comes to styling. And somewhere down the line, alongside getting our top buns and half tucks right, we should all be able to layer like pros. To some, layering comes naturally. To others, layering is like a sack of raw potatoes – could be edible and taste yum if cooked right.
You and your BFF might not have the same taste when it comes to boys or food, but when it comes to fashion there’s always room for a couple of similar items. Check out how Anushka and I are tackling fall’s most important essential – layering!
1. Chambray Shirt Dress
Petite: To give your waistline more definition, cinch it over your jacket with a belt
Curvy: If you’re a short girl (no judgement, I’m 5 foot nothing) and want to look lean and tall, add a pair of nude heels and minimal accessories.
2. Casual Joggers
Petite: Friday casuals at work? Knot it up like Anushka has and add a denim jacket over.
Curvy: Do the half tuck and tie your jacket around your waist for a more casual look.
3.Varsity Jacket
Petite: However casual, style this jacket over a striped shirt or even a tee to look chic and ready for office. Don’t forget those heels!
Curvy: Try not to tuck your t-shirt in. Let it hang loose underneath the jacket. For a laid-back yet stylish vibe opt for a pair of sneakers and a cute hairstyle.
4. Denim
Petite: For a sporty girl look, pair that essential denim jacket over a simple dress and sneaker wedges.
Curvy: If you mean business cape your jacket over your shoulders. Tie your hair into a ponytail or top knot for extra height!
This is how the fashion team does fall, what about you?
