Gosh, where does the time go? I could swear I started writing this blog post about 4 weeks ago… Anyway, we’re here now and it’s going to happen! For the longest time I’ve been toying with the idea of writing a book about, “love” and not the usual, they sauntered into the sunset kind of love… but the kind that aches and moans and wakes you up in the middle of the night, just to ask for a glass of water. (And then tells you, it didn’t really want you to get it a glass of water, it just wanted you to empathise, saying; ‘yes honey, I too know what it feels like to want a glass of water.’ – courtesy White Men Can’t Jump.) But a book like that requires research and to come to any sort of conclusion, you need answers. So I figured the best way to get my answers is to start asking a whole lot of questions! The most important of which being;
WHO KNOWS HOW TO MAKE LOVE STAY? (Tom Robbins, you’re the man.)
And since Bollywood seems just about as obsessed with love as I am, I figured I’d ask them first! So here goes a series of conversations with some of my favourite Bollywood belles and boys and their thoughts on that little vixen called love (and how to make it stay, preferably willingly!)
MissMalini: What’s one thing you have learnt about love so far in your life?
Imran Khan: Love is hard. I mean, falling in love is easy, people do it all the time. Staying in love, that’s the hard part.
MM: Who knows how to make love stay?
IK: The person who’s seen life without love. If you’ve spent your life surrounded by love, you can take it for granted; but once you get a taste of life without love, you’ll do anything to make love stay.
MM: Is it possible to love someone forever or does life get in the way?
IK: Life will always get in the way, that’s just how it goes. There’s a hundred things to distract and deter you every day, you really do have to consciously work at love to keep it alive.
Stay tuned for my next conversation with Kangana Ranaut on Love!
