No Indian will ever forget the tragic story of Nirbhaya. No person who had read or heard about it was left without tears. When BBC made a documentary about the incident, it was banned in India by the government. However, the entire world watched it and many even discredited India as a whole instead of focusing on an innocent woman who met with an awfully tragic end. Not to forget, it is still one of the most watched documentaries on Netflix.
The film is all set for theatrical release in the U.S. and Hollywood actress, Meryl Streep believes that Leslee Udwin‘s India’s Daughter deserves an Oscar. She told Reuters:
I’m on the campaign now to get her [Leslee Udwin] nominated for the best documentary. When I first saw [the film], I couldn’t speak afterward.
Do you agree with Streep?
