Finally, after quite some exciting build up for last one year, Jazbaa hits the screens this Friday. The promotion so far has been apt, the marketing is in the right direction and the release plans are spectacular, what with the makers (Zee Studios) going all out to ensure a huge international arrival. In fact, it won’t be wrong to say that other than Salman Khan‘s Bajrangi Bhaijaan, it is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Irrfan Khan‘s Jazbaa which has been in the news for its wide overseas release this year. Now that says a lot about the brand value that the two actors bring on board, something that is notable for sure.
Closer home too, the film is seeing one of the widest releases ever for both the actors. The game has pretty much changed ever since Aishwarya was last seen on the big screen in Guzaarish (2010). In these five years, the screen count has increased by leaps and bounds and that would ensure that Jazbaa arrives in a major way across the country. This means that even a fair first-day occupancy of around 40%-50% would bring in decent moolah at the Box Office.
Now that’s something that filmmaker Sanjay Gupta and his team won’t mind since the film is carrying very good reports, something that would translate into increased momentum over the weekend if audience word of mouth is in the same direction as well. Especially at multiplexes, the film is set to have the good audience rooting for it this week.
Another release of the week is the dubbed Hindi version of Rudhramadevi. Even though the film features Baahubali cast of Rana Daggubatti and Anushka Shetty, the film has just not been promoted optimally, which is sad as this one seemed like a flick with a potential. For now though, it is arriving like any other regular big Telugu release which also sees an all-India day-date release. There isn’t an iota of pre-release hype though that Karan Johar had managed to create for Baahubali a few months back, and that would reflect in the opening occupancy.
