Sporting a pair of blue denims, a black t-shirt and a leather jacket, a quiet Saif Ali Khan was typing something rapidly on his mobile handset when I entered Stage 8 in Mehboob Studios in Bandra. He looked up, smiled briefly and went back to his phone. Once he was done, we commenced our chat about his upcoming movie, Phantom and many other things. And considering this was my first interaction with the Nawab, I was delighted to witness his chilled-out demeanor. Must say, Ibrahim and Sara Ali Khan are quite lucky to have such a cool daddy. When I asked the actor about his son’s viral Dubsmash video and how Shah Rukh Khan loved it, the concerned father said:
I told my son yesterday that social media and press is a double-edged sword. If they praise you one day, the next time they will criticize you. Usually, you need a reason to be spoken about. Until you have something to say, it is better to stay away from it. And I think he has understood that. It’s not difficult to get some attention and so far, it’s fine. But generally, you should keep a low profile till you have something to offer. If you want to get into movies, there is a way to get into that. You don’t want to be famous for being somebody’s son. At least that is how we are brought up and that’s how we have brought him up. So yeah, his parents weren’t really pleased. Let’s say, we’re more concerned. Joining films is one thing and that will be great. Whatever I have achieved is from the movies and I respect the field.
So I guess now we’ll have to wait till Ibrahim grows up and decides to be an actor (if at all!) to see another video featuring him! Hmm.
