Guys, Tanmay Bhat (co-founder of All India Bakchod, in case you’ve been living under a rock) has just lifted a rock from my brain. Okay, the previous sentence doesn’t make much sense but here’s what happened – I was scrolling through Twitter like a normal person till I saw Tanmay’s tweet.
TIL that Pari Hoo Main is actually a song about child abuse 😐

Err, what? This can’t be true can it? I HAVE DANCED TO THIS SONG ON JAMNABAI’S DANDIYA NIGHTS!
Anyway, like a rational person I tweeted to him asking where he’s read about this.
@thetanmay Hi! Did you read this somewhere? Planning to write about it.

Tanmay, who I’m sure was as flabbergasted as I was, replied and named Rohan Joshi and Sahil Rizwan as the men behind this epiphany.
@shreemiverma @mojorojo @SahilRiz told me about it

@shreemiverma We really just destroyed @thetanmay‘s childhood @SahilRiz
— Rohan (@mojorojo) July 23, 2015
@mojorojo @shreemiverma @thetanmay *Balloon pop*

Obviously I saw the video again, and guys…it’s true. Now that I know this, I’m like 99% sure this song is about abuse.
The song obviously remains as beautiful as ever, but I just can’t sing along loudly to it while doing dandiya hand gestures anymore.
Also, kudos Suneeta Rao, your song is very well ahead of its time. I’m just a little disturbed though, ’90s kid and all that.
