Don’t be mistaken by her cute looks. Ridhima Sud is much more than that. One conversation with her and you realize that while she was Noorie in Dil Dhadakne Do, the character isn’t what she is entirely made of in real life. A thinking girl who has her eyes set on building a solid career in the world of films, she is pretty clear about her priorities. While she can’t thank Zoya Akhtar, her director, enough for getting her a noticeable launch in Bollywood, she does realize that the journey from this point on would be challenging in itself and if there is someone who has to make it successful, it is her.
Her beginning though, has been Dil Dhadakne Do, an ensemble affair, where it is pretty much expected that a newcomer like Ridhima would be surrounded by a lot of other actors. In most of her scenes, there are quite a few experienced actors around her. How did she mentally condition herself so that she wouldn’t be overwhelmed? Ridhima says,
“I didn’t really think about all of this. I just knew I had to serve the character and do my bit successfully. And if everyone was doing their bit and serving their characters then by virtue of the brilliant writing it would all work and I think that’s what happened. I would credit Zoya with everything, even the performances. Obviously it’s to Zoya’s credit that all the actors come and give their career best in her films. She is the reason why! At the end of the day the film is only in the director’s head and as actors we are there to serve his or her vision.”
What is notable though is that in the film, Ridhima has quite a few scenes with Ranveer Singh. In the corner of her heart, has she been thinking that one day, she would actually have him as a leading man paired opposite her? Ridhima laughs and says,
“I would love to work with him again but no, I haven’t been fantasizing about it. Our scenes were effortless and there was synergy. I would honestly love to also work with Ranbir Kapoor because he just seems so honest to his craft and it would be an enlightening experience.”
We look forward to that happening for sure, Ridhima.
