Dil Dhadakne Do, after a reasonably good opening weekend of 37 crores, needed an ultra stable week ahead for substantial collections. Though collections were not a rage during the weekdays, they didn’t fall either and were steady around the mid-way mark. As a result, around 20 crores came between Monday to Friday, as a result of which the first week collections of the Zoya Akhtar film stand around the 57 crore mark. Though these are not excellent numbers for a star studded affair like this, considering the fact that industry had been bleeding till just about 5-6 weeks back, these are still fine numbers for sure.
The film has now enjoyed the third best opening of the year after Tanu Weds Manu Returns (70 crores) and Gabbar Is Back (60 crores). However, while Tanu Weds Manu Returns is continuing to do wonders (more about that later), Gabbar Is Back too held through well and crossed the 86 crore mark. It would be interesting to see whether Dil Dhadakne Do manages to enjoy the third best lifetime collections of the year at least (since Baby, with a lesser opening, had crossed the 95 crore mark).
As for Zoya’s own records, Dil Dhadakne Do has enjoyed a much better opening weekend and first week than her last, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (opening weekend – 28 crore, opening week – 45 crore). However, it would be a task for the film to cross its lifetime collections (90 crore) since the Hrithik Roshan led affair had enjoyed very good patronage at the multiplexes.
