Sometimes getting dressed in the morning can be the hardest part of the day. It doesn’t matter if you’re in college or rushing to get dressed for a 9 to 5 job. We all need a little bit of inspiration from time to time. Sometimes to avoid wasting time, you lean in for the easiest and most boring outfit. Trust me, you’re not alone, we have all done it. That’s why BandraRoad is challenging you to use your everyday clothes to try new fashion tricks. It could be as simple as adding a belt or a hat, adding a bright colour, or even throwing on a pair of sneakers to the office. Are you guys up for it? Ok, let’s go!
Put A Hat On It
Doesn’t matter if you opt of a baseball hat or a floppy boho style one, hats are an amazing way to make a statement with your style. So maybe tomorrow when you’re getting ready, top off your outfit with a hat that you have hidden in your closet.
Layer While You Mix & Match
You can instantly transform your strapless daytime dress to an
approriate workplace outfit by layering a t-shirt or a shirt underneath. You can even use this trick and mix and match prints. Don’t worry if they don’t “go together.” Just keep them in the same color family and have fun with geometric shapes, floral prints, polka dots, and the likes.
Shorts To Work
Yes, you can wear shorts to work, especially if they are the boyfriend kind. Boyfriend shorts are usually longer than normal shorts. They reach just above the knee. Pair these shorts with a formal shirt or you could even wear a t-shirt and throw a blazer on top for that office worthy outfit. You can complete this outfit with oxford shoes or brogues. If you’re going for an informal look, just team your shorts with a rocker tee and ankle booties or sneakers.
Be Bold
Be bold and turn heads all day long when you add big bright colours like red or green to your daytime look. Sure, it’s unexpected, but it works in more casual silhouettes and looks great with oxford shoes or even sneakers.
Match Your Socks
I love matching the colour of my socks with my dresses or if I’m wearing a vest or blazer I match it accordingly. It’s just a small styling trick that you can use to make a cool statement with your otherwise normal outfit. This works best when you wear ankle booties. So, stock up on some coloured socks or if you’re feeling a bit adventurous, printed ones.
Sneakers & Dresses
Honestly, this is a no brainer. You probably bought those trainers when you thought you would be going to the gym everyday, but that hasn’t happened yet! Don’t worry, you can still use those trainers to go to work, by styling them with dresses or even skirts. Transform any dress in your closet with cool, laid-back kicks for a look that’s more sporty than girlie.
Layer Your Accessories
Layering your accessories does have quite a stunning effect and makes your outfit stand out. You could go the subtle way with thin, elegant accessories or you could chunk it up. I personally like subtle jewellery, its simple and goes with almost every outfit.
One of the reasons fashion is our thing — and your thing, too, we bet — is that there are no rules. Beyond ones that keep you from getting arrested (there’s little getting around forgetting your pants in public…), there are very few regulations on dressing. So do what feels and looks best to you. Confidence, in the end, is what makes you shine. So are you ready to take up this challenge? Try something new everyday, mix and match, layer your accessories, wear bold colours….fashion is supposed to be fun. So experiment, and when you do, please take a fun #OOTD and send it to us on bandraroad@gmail.com. For more cool styling tips and outfit inspirations, follow us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
