On the 1st of this month, a fleet of 20 auto rickshaws zoomed into London – all decorated by 20 celebrated designers. Autos? In London? What? Elephant Family is a corporation that holds events and raises funds for the conservation of the endangered Asian elephants. In the past, they’ve held egg hunts, parades, all for the cause and this year, a fleet of 20 gorgeous autos will zoom around London and instead of a fee, the customers can make a donation to the cause – how great is that?!
While the grey streets of gloomy London get some much-needed brightness, one of the designers participating is our very own Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
Goldie Hawn, an avid supporter flagged off the project which is in partnership with Selfridges in London. Some of the designers and artists who created those beauties are Zandra Rhodes, Felder Felder, Piers Atkinson, Alex Echo, Rebecca Campbell, Diane von Furstenberg, Mulberry and Carolina Herrara.
Once this is done, the autos will be auctioned off, all for the great cause. Damn, I’d like to trade in my car for one of those babies!
