Every fashion week we spot trends on the runway that are sure to be huge. This year, we saw fringe all over the Spring 2015 runways and of course we had to make sure this trend made an appearance in our style file. Spotted at all the big shows like Ralph Lauren Polo to BCBGMAXAZRIA and Ritika Bharwani for that matter, we are totally in love with this trend. Though fringe might seem like a trickier trend to pull off, it works really well on coats, jackets and skirts, as well as on accessories like statement jewellery and handbags. Needless to say, you can wear it just about anywhere. Swooning yet? From micro-mini fringe trimmings to luscious and long strips of suede, this trend will make you want to channel everything from your inner flapper dancer to that hidden wild west cowgirl.
PS: Don’t forget, the fringe is tricky so make sure you look like a cool girl, not a cowgirl.
Though we do admit that this is a “wear one trend at a time” kind of deal, as fashionistas we love to experiment. How we styled it? Karishma chose to dress in a chunky, frayed fringe coverup over a printed dress with bright pink shoes, while I (Sheefa) chose to go a little over the edge – more retro. I paired a high-waisted two piece bikini from Nishka Lulla with a fringe skirt by Ritika Bharwani, a denim jacket and nude shoes to complete my outfit. We made sure we didn’t forget to accessorise! Check it out!
Note: Here’s your secret to nailing fringe fashion
Fringe fashion tip: Less is more
Always remember, the key to wearing fringe is simple: less is more. Wear one fringe piece at a time. Chances are, your single fringe piece is statement enough.
