The internet is a wonderful wonderful place. And one of its many boons is the brand new platform on online dating. I find it amazing that the world wide web can be used as much for learning the song lyrics to your current favourite track, as it can be used for finding someone awesome to chill with, whom you may or may not in real life. However, the virtual dating world, just like meeting someone in real life has some unwritten rules. Also, the competition is much fierce because the phrase “first impression is the last impression” was coined for this experience, believe me!
Here’re some pro-tips for you to make your online dating profile much more attractive:
1. Writer’s Unblock
Okay. No one expects you to be a scholar but is correct grammar too much to ask? Also, please steer clear of sms lingo too; it’s 2015 for crying out loud!
2. The Introduction
Going back to my ”first impression is the last impression” point, really work on your bio. Make it interesting, be funny, add some unusual details, but don’t ramble on.
3. Second Opinion
After you’re done making your profile, treat it like a draft. Get a friend to look it over and take his opinion. You never know, he might have his two cents to add to it.
4. Quote Unquote
This is more of a personal call, but I’ve done my surveys and the common sentiment is that the guy who uses a “philosophical” quote in his profile, isn’t the most attractive one in the dating pool.
5. Update!
Now that your profile is done and you’re rocking it out in the dating scene, don’t forget that you, like all of us, have evolved. So, it would be quite a good idea to update your profile from time to time. Add new pictures, jot down some new hobbies…
6. Have Fun 🙂
All in all, be yourself, don’t be creepy and have a good time. That was sort of why you got on board in the first place, no?
