Gone are the days when Bollywood used to be a male-dominated industry. Our B-town leading ladies have given some mind-blowing performances as well as box-office wonders in the recent past. And thus, they’ve carved a substantial place for themselves in the industry. Two of the leading ladies who’ve played a major role in bringing this change in Indian cinema happen to be Kangana Ranaut and Deepika Padukone.
Both the heroines are extremely talented and it’s only natural that everyone’s constantly pitting them against each other. And with regards to the healthy competition between them, DP had recently gone on record saying that she’s jealous of Kangana’s movie, Queen. But she had also dedicated an award to her during an award ceremony, stating that Kangana deserved it more than her.
But when Kangana was told about it on Rajeev Masand‘s TV show, she said:
“I knew I was getting the award. I chose not to go there. So there is a reason behind it. And I did get genuine compliments from Shah Rukh Khan who called me directly, Salman Khan, Aamir sir called me directly. Amitabh Bachchan called me directly. Priyanka (Chopra) did. Everyone called me. But Deepika never called me directly… Though we met a couple of times and she is someone I have highest regards for, I respect her as a contemporary and as an actress. But I have to be honest about things and I can’t be someone else.”
