When I had the opportunity to ask M.A.C Global Senior Artist, Sonic Sarwate, any beauty related query, I went straight for it: how to cover up these damned dark circles? Yes, it’s something most desi women suffer from, but no single method seems to work. Sonic works with hundreds of models backstage at fashion week. He’s an expert when it comes to all things M.A.C: one of our favorite makeup brands. So, he’s got to have nailed this, right?
Turns out, he’s totally got it handled! Here’s how he made my dark circles vanish and gave me absolutely flawless skin.
1) Moisturize
M.A.C’s Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 isn’t out till June, but I was lucky enough to use some. Sonic gently pat the moisturizer all over my face.
2) Prime
Sonic then applied the M.A.C prep + prime primer, lightly dabbing it all over my face, concentrating especially around my eyes.
3) Neutralize & Correct
He used a concealer brush and the M.A.C Conceal and Correct palette to mix a shade that would neutralize my under eye circles. In theory, more purple veins require yellow cover up, while blue veins require a more orange cover up. Those with green veins showing can opt for something of a more salmon/pink-ish shade.
It’s important to remember that while you can use theory to your benefit, this palette allows you to mix colors that neutralize the tone of your unique dark circles, according to your skin.
4) Conceal
Use gentle dab and swish motions to evenly apply concealer and corrector all over your under eye area. Move in more than one direction to make sure it penetrates the creases, but keep dabbing to keep it even.
5) Highlight
Go on top of the corrected area with a lighter concealer to highlight and bring a fresh look to your under eyes. See the difference? It’s kind of mind blowing, no?
6) Foundation
Sonic then used a foundation brush to go over my face with a liquid foundation. Since the rest of my skin is rather clear, he used a minimal amount in gentle, downward motions.
7) Powder
Always set in your concealer and oily zones with a little powder.
8) Mascara – Trust me, you need this.
If you don’t apply any other makeup, always opt for mascara. Nothing opens up your eyes like luscious lashes. M.A.C has a set of mascaras that serve different purposes. What do you want from your mascara?

9) And Done!
Add a little lip and cheek color to finish your look.
It’s a miracle, isn’t it? You definitely want to try this one at home!
