After a slow start during the opening weekend, all eyes were on how Mr. X would do over the past week. After all, the film had to be super-strong right through the weekdays if at all it had to sail through. However, with the majority of the reviews not being favorable and minimal footfalls over the weekend, it was always going to be a tall order for this Vishesh Films’ offering. With collections further dipping during the week, the first week collections read just over 20 crore, hence pretty much sealing the film’s fate. The film is hardly in the running in the second week and had proven to be a commercial disappointment.
The second release of the week, Margarita With A Straw, saw some escalation during its first weekend, but that was never going to be good enough for a revival during the week. This was pretty much the case as the first week billing now stands around the 3.25 crore mark. Since the word of mouth hasn’t quite spread strongly enough to ensure a sustainable second week, the Kalki Koechlin starrer will fold up under the 5 crore mark. With the kind of promotion and marketing effort that was put on the film, Margarita With A Straw will likely prove as a loser at the box office.
Guru Dakshina didn’t even get a proper release and hardly had any numbers to talk about. It is out of theaters now.
