The way I see it, Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya of musical duo Sachin-Jigar are way underrated. They are the brains behind some of the loveliest Hindi songs of recent times, and with every new film that they do, they prove this yet again. So I was pretty stoked when I realised that they’ve composed three new songs for this season of Coke Studio – and one of them has already made it on to my list of favourites! What I especially love about them is that every song is an emotion in itself. Just check out my list of favourite Sachin-Jigar tracks and you’ll know what I mean:
1) Char Baj Gaye – F.A.L.T.U
You remember how wildly popular this song was when it first released, don’t you? And still, no Bollywood night out is complete without this track!
2) Saibo – Shor In The City
I don’t think I could ever properly express how much I love this song. Love. Absolute love.
3) Piya O Re Piya – Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya
One of my favourite “first love” songs.
4) Bezubaan – ABCD
The ABCD soundtrack has some great songs on it, but Bezubaan is by far my favourite.
5) Gulabi – Shuddh Desi Romance
Such a breezy song!
6) Shake Your Bootiya – Finding Fanny
One of the most brilliant songs from Bollywood in 2014.
7) Dance Basanti – Ungli
So fun, so catchy, so upbeat. Love this one!
8) Jaise Mera Tu – Happy Ending
The Happy Ending soundtrack had a bunch of great songs on it – from the insane Paaji Tussi Such A Pussycat to the absolutely lovely Mileya Mileya. Jaise Mera Tu was one of the star tracks, and one of my favourites from 2014.
9) Jeena Jeena – Badlapur
Soft, romantic and haunting… Bollywood got off to a good start in 2015 with the Badlapur album.
10) Laadki
This is one of their new tracks for this season of Coke Studio, and it is beautiful. The song captures a conversation between a father and a daughter – and interestingly, the parts of the little girl are sung by Sachin’s daughter!
