Models showcasing the House of Napius collection
Last week at Lakme Fashion Week, designer Nikhil Thampi opened his show with a model walking down the runway in a billowing yellow gown to the thunderous beat of Tip Tip Barsa Pani. Needless to say, I immediately went into flashback mode. #NostalgiaTrip, anyone?
So call it a happy coincidence that later that week, I got the opportunity to interview the original superstar in the song Raveena Tandon at the launch of a new maternity wear brand, House of Napius. Developed by Founder & Director Nehal Mehta as India’s first radiation-safe range of maternity wear, the collection has styles ranging from daily wear, dresses and even office wear for the working mom-to-be. With the increasing exposure to radiation especially via mobile towers, each garment is designed to protect both mother and baby while still providing style & comfort.
Raveena (who still looks ravishing FYI) told us why radiation safe maternity wear is the need of the hour, gave tips on how to dress when pregnant, revealed how she manages to balance a career & home & even spilled the beans on her much hyped cameo in Bombay Velvet. Listen in!
Excerpts from the interview!
Whenever I see a visual of a working woman, whether it’s from my fraternity or even those who travel from Virar in the trains to work in town, I always envision them as devis with a million hands juggling everything – one hand holding a book, one holding a work file, one holding a child, one holding a belan!
I think God made us this way because he thought we had the inner strength, the inner Shakti to do it and do it bloody damn well!
When I was pregnant, my husband told me every day that I looked the most beautiful. And I think that’s very important because you are feeling low and bloated and you stand in front of the mirror and you can’t recognize yourself. But it’s very important for all mothers to know that that is the most beautiful phase of their lives, and at the time I think even husbands should be very supportive. So enjoy that glow, enjoy that time, put your feet up and make your husband run around!
I am in Bombay Velvet for exactly 2 seconds! Watch me and I’m there and watch me again and I’m not there!
One trend that I want to bring back is my hoops and nose ring!
One film of mine that should never be remade is Andaz Apna Apna!
