If there is ever going to be a case study on how destiny changes in a matter of weeks, one of the reference points is certainly going to be that of Ayushmann Khurrana‘s stint with Bollywood in 2015. From a mega disaster Hawaizaada, he has managed to find a turnaround in one month flat, what with Dum Laga Ke Haisha turning out to be surprise hit of the season. With around 25 crore in its kitty and still counting, the controlled-budget film saw a platform release for itself and has now managed to grow in stature with every passing day. Clearly, for Ayushmann, this Yash Raj film has been a massive turnaround.

And now, he has also rolled out a book Cracking The Code, which is a guide to struggles who try to make it big in Bollywood.

So what prompted you and your wife Tahira Kashyap to write the book?

Well, I am still cracking the code. See, everyone makes his own code. My journey in Bollywood has just started. I am not a star-kid, no one would have given me a film on a platter. I have seen so much in such a short span of time because started young with different mediums like radio, TV, films. The book is a guide for strugglers in Bollywood.

Do you think it’s easier for strugglers to ‘crack the code’ now than before?

If we talk about the era of 70s and 80s, studios were pretty much like forts back then. Today it is a lot democratic. There are casting directors… you give auditions and you move on. This is the best phase for someone to step in Bollywood, it is no more operated by nepotism.

We agree!
