Think of a bindi, and a simple red dot comes to mind. For Amit Aggarwal‘s collection last evening, it was more about the process than the final picture. The journey of this bindi was key and AM.IT was the final output. As the outline of a simple red drop bled into prints on clothing crafted from industrial waste, silhouettes were asymmetric, and layers came in abundance. A prêt line was born and while we recognised one of its parents, the other was a happy surprise. Aggarwal’s clothes stuck to the metallics we all know and love but he offered up unexpected materials and new techniques in the form of wearable jackets, tops and dresses – they became fashion favourites even before they were introduced to the crowd.
