Nothing could prepare me (or those watching) for what Rajesh Pratap Singh had planned for the opening show at FDCI presents Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2015. We know for sure that the man is plain genius but when you are this good, you’re expected to outdo yourself. This theory didn’t seem to affect the adorably shy Pratap Singh. His show had a mind, body and soul of its own, as always. A collection and show inspired by nurses and the hospital, it has what every a fashion-sick girl needs to stay alive this coming winter!

Pratap Singh in an interview with Team MissMalini explained the concept behind the hospital theme to have emerged from his love and respect for nurses. His research started with the World War period and evolved from there. Rajesh didn’t just pick a theme, throw in a few familiar motives like a lab coat and called it a show. His research was detailed and note worthy. Right from the treated leather and wool in garments that felt like skin to the stitches that resemble suture stitching in surgery. It was all planned to the ‘T-bone’.

The monochrome line was brought to life with surface textures, leather, polka-like drops and ikat to form the cross-like patterns to die for. The fabric chosen were coated with gum. If I go on about how amazing this collection was with its clinical appeal, I’ll probably over-do it. So why don’t you see our top picks from the collection for yourself!
I obviously can’t gush about the show without mentioning the musical wizardry of Grain, Ankur Tiwari & Karsh Kale. The heavy electronic rock mood elevated the collection showcase to a level where audiences in the front had goosebumps. But this was just the first show of Day 1! Follow MissMalini and #AIFW to keep up with the best looks, and all the action from behind the scenes to the front row. You’d hate it if you missed it. Trust me!
