As predicted in this column last week, it was always going to be word of mouth as a deciding factor for the new releases of the week. In that aspect, powered by some good online campaign initiated by Anurag Kashyap and Co. (which resulted in some noise over the social media), Hunterrr managed to see decent collections on the opening day. Since the word of mouth was mixed, there weren’t any massive jumps over the weekend. Still, the collections remained steady, as a result of which this Gulshan Devaiah and Radhika Apte film hung on to gather around 5 crores* at the box office.
The second release of the week, Dilliwalli Zaalim Girlfriend, was hurt by poor show timings in some of the major territories. The limited reviews that came its way were mixed, as a result of which, there wasn’t much to cheer about as the collections remained on the lower side. With just around 2 crores* coming in, the film has managed to accumulate much less than what it could have earned, as the overall content was still decent.
Meanwhile NH10 continued to find audience and continued to be the first choice for many cine-goers as it entered it’s second week. With around 5 crore* coming into its kitty, the film now has touched the 25 crore mark. The Anushka Sharma starrer will remain stable during the weekdays as well, and make its progress towards the 30 crore mark by the end of its run.
*Final numbers awaited.
