If you’re anything like me, you probably keep promising yourself that you’ll find the time and go to the nail salon to touch up your manicure, or get a new one. Aaand… it never happens. Here’s when gel nails come to the rescue. I depend on them to get me through weeks of not seeing a beautician. That is of course, until they start growing out. That’s when they’ve got to go, so really, I’ve got no choice but to DIY it because I can’t stand the sight of, well, this…
If you’re doing this at home, you’ll need aluminum foil, nail polish remover, a nail file, an orange stick, and a nail cutter. You might want to do this on a newspaper because it will get messy.
Step 1
Use a nail file to scratch the surface out and break the nail polish apart. I cut my nails first to make it easier.
Step 2
Soak cotton balls in nail polish remover, place them on your nails, and wrap them in foil. Leave this on for about 7-8 minutes.
Step 3
Use the orange stick to peel off the gel nails.
Step 4
Wipe off the residue with nail varnish remover again and moisturize with a little cuticle oil or any essential oil. Then, preferably (I didn’t do this), use a buffer to buff your nails. File them and apply another nail polish.
Why didn’t I do this? Uhh… I got lazy, but this will give you the best results. If you try this out at home, do let us know how it goes! We would love receiving pictures too.
