In an ugly turn of events yesterday, music legend, Sir Elton John asked all his followers and friends to boycott equally legendary luxury label, Dolce & Gabbana. Earlier this month, the designer duo gave an interview to Italy’s Panorama magazine where they brought up the topic of children. Things got serious when they made statements such as, “No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed.”
It got even worse when they stated, “We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one. You are born to a mother and a father – or at least that’s how it should be. I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented uterus, semen chosen from a catalog.”
Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana were in a relationship when they started their label, and split up in 2005. So their statements against same sex parents was bound to cause a stir.
Enter Sir Elton John, who has two children with his partner David Furnish – both born to a surrogate mother. The statements infuriated the Your Song hitmaker so much, that he took to Instagram and here’s what he had to say…
A whole lot of celebrities have stood up to support him and the row doesn’t look like it’s going to end anytime soon.
