There’s roughly one month left for Season 5 premiere of my favourite show, Game Of Thrones and I REALLY DON’T KNOW WHY MARCH ISN’T ENDING ALREADY! But while we wait for April to arrive and for ‘all men to die‘, check out our version of desi Westeros. How does it compare with who you had in mind to play these amazing characters? We know you’ve thought of this a million times already!
1) Ned Stark – Sanjay Dutt
I think Sanjay Dutt would be perfect as the strong, loyal but fairly short-sighted Ned Stark who paid the price of being too noble! They look similar too!
2) Catelyn Stark – Madhuri Dixit
Catelyn Stark was the strong mother figure of the Stark family in Season 1, a lady who’d do anything to protect her family. Really, who apart from Madhuri Dixit can carry off a role like that? Especially in an episode like the Red Wedding… Madhuri would kill it! (pun intended).
3) Jon Snow – Shahid Kapoor
Shahid Kapoor played the tortured, angry son in Haider so well that it’s become rather tough to imagine anyone else but him playing the role of everyone’s favourite Jon Snow! It also helps that they’re both rather pleasing to the eye.
4) Sansa Stark – Shraddha Kapoor
Who can play both the sweet, gullible and extremely romantic Sansa Stark of earlier seasons and the strong, silent and fearless Sansa of Season 4? Only Shraddha Kapoor!
5) Arya Stark – Ahsaas Channa
Before you say Ahsaas Channa who? This child actress played the role of a boy in most of her earlier movies, until her father publicly spoke about the damaging effect this could have on the young girl. Her storyline is so much like Arya/Arry Stark (minus the wars, murders, swords and bloodshed, thankfully), it’ll be stupid to cast anyone else.
6) Tyrion Lannister – Aamir Khan
Only one of the best actors in Bollywood, like Aamir Khan, can do justice to the role Peter Dinklage has immortalised. No one else! If you even mention Rajpal Yadav‘s name for the iconic role of Tyrion Lannister, I will cry.
7) Cersei Lannister – Aishwarya Rai
Gorgeous, complicated and evil Cersei Lannister is frankly one of the characters I LOVE to hate! An actress as beautiful and talented as Aishwarya Rai will be perfect to play the queen!
8) Jaime Lannister – Hrithik Roshan
See, we’re already far too much in love with Jaime Lannister to even consider someone ordinary. Hrithik Roshan fits the role of the handsome, arrogant and golden knight to a “T” and just thinking about him playing the swashbuckling Jaime makes me so happy! Plus, Hrithik’s chemistry with Aishwarya Rai is electrifying and we all know that Jaime and Cersei are far *closer* than regular twins eh?
9) Tywin Lannister – Naseeruddin Shah
Tywin Lannister is a meaty character that any good actor would love to sink his teeth into. An actor like Naseeruddin Shah would not even spare the bones!
10) Petyr Baelish – Emraan Hashmi
Need I elaborate? Emraan Hashmi needs to play Petyr! Imagine him creeping on Shraddha Kapoor like Baelish does with Sansa and you’ll know why Emraan is perfect for this role.
11) Stannis Baratheon – Akshaye Khanna
Akshaye Khanna is a brilliant actor who hasn’t achieved the stardom he deserves. Stannis Baratheon is an excellent leader who hasn’t achieved the throne he rightfully deserves. Co-incidence? I think not.
12) Melisandre – Kangana Ranaut
The ‘red woman‘ who is a priestess of the Lord Of Light, Melisandre is a decidedly grey character whose motives are as mysterious as she is. On top of that, she’s so damn hot! Kangana Ranaut would ace in a role as amazingly scary as this one.
13) Margaery Tyrell – Deepika Padukone
Charming? Check. Seductive? Check. Manipulative? Check. Deepika Padukone can convince a completely sane person to kill himself if she asks nicely, and that is exactly what Margaery Tyrell is capable of. I think this character needs a spin-off series of her own, don’t you think?
14) Joffrey Baratheon/Lannister- Suraj Pancholi
Is it just me or does Suraj Pancholi look like a guy who’d play the role of an evil, spoilt and dangerous child-king rather well? Joffrey Baratheon, we’ve definitely found your Indian counterpart!
15) Daenerys Targaryen – Alia Bhatt
Both Daenerys Targaryen and Alia Bhatt started their journeys as young, inexperienced girls in a world dominated by men. Both achieved success early in their endeavours and now they’re both the Khaleesis of their respective worlds. Any questions?
The brand new Season 5 premieres on HBO Defined from 13th April in India, and I really can’t wait anymore. I just can’t!
