Akshara Haasan is the first star-kid to be making her debut in 2015. Of course, when a film is titled Shamitabh, it is natural that Amitabh Bachchan would be taking centrestage and Dhanush wouldn’t be too far behind. In that case, one may well wonder if Akshara is getting a fair deal after all. However, with director Balki promising that the daughter of Kamal Haasan and Sarika is in fact the third hero of the film, people have looked forward to seeing what the pretty young woman has to bring on screen in Shamitabh (produced by Gauri Shinde, Abhishek Bachchan and Sunil Lulla).
So when she began shooting for the film with Big B, how much of a fan girl in her came to the fore?
“I was awestruck, of course. Still, you need to make a distinction between a fan girl and an actor. No matter how much I was fan girl or went wow or was in awe, it was Mr. Bachchan who made me so comfortable. He said something to me, which I realize he has said earlier too, that no matter whose daughter you are or who is the actor in front of you, as an actor you just need to go by the character. R. Balki also told me that after working with him on a couple of films, he had come to realize that on the sets, Mr. Bachchan conducts himself as just another actor.”
A plot like Shamitabh is something that has never been attempted before. Guess this is one film which should get full marks for originality for sure…
“Yes. In fact Balki sir is a very unique person and if you have seen Cheeni Kum and Paa, they both are very different. Same is now the case with Shamitabh too,” she promises.
Now that the film is running in theaters, it will be interesting to see the audience’s response.
