We just received news that Moroccanoil®, a leading hair care brand, won a case in the Delhi High Court against Enhance Aesthetic & Cosmetic Studio Pvt. Ltd. (“Enhance Clinics”) for selling counterfeits or copied products that violated the Israel-based Moroccanoil’s trademark and intellectual property.

Unfortunately, more often in Asia than in other parts of the world, “copycat” beauty products have become a common sight to see. And that’s exactly why this win is a big step for the global beauty industry. How does this affect us, you ask? Why, of course it does!

Many of us may want an inexpensive alternative or a convenient option when it comes to investing in cosmetics. Truth is, our city and country is filled with fake products sold by hawkers and uncertified vendors. You want to stay away from this because you cannot be sure of what ingredients are in the product. You can’t be sure of how the product has been packaged or whether it has already been opened.

This is a major risk for your hair, skin, and health. There’s a reason for the rules and regulations that the beauty industry follows and putting yourself at risk just isn’t worth it. In fact, there is no point to it when you consider the fact that you’re not even receiving the actual beauty benefits guaranteed by the brands.

The next time you’re out shopping, you may want to do a thorough check of what you’re buying and only purchase cosmetics from legitimate sources.

What are your thoughts on the matter? We would love for you to share.
