Now that we’ve answered most your queries surrounding what to wear to your best friend’s wedding – through our Wedding Diaries – it’s time to face another question that is just as important; what about your makeup? These things need to be planned and a half-hearted, last minute job just doesn’t quite cut it nor does it do any justice to your fabulous outfits!
It’s the season where you can get away with incorporating a lot of glitter, gold, and fun into your makeup looks. I don’t mean Bappi Lahiri levels of gold, it’s about the right amount of shimmer. Here’s how you can achieve a wedding makeup look that will enhance your outfits without overshadowing the bride, because honey, that’s a big ‘No No!’
1) It’s all About That Base
You always want to moisturize first to prime your skin and keep it dewy. Pick a moisturizer that suits your skin type: opt for a heavier cream if you have dry skin and vice versa. Then apply a colour correcting foundation using a sponge. Apply more to areas that need most coverage and blend all over.
2) Bronzing Done Right!
You should be careful with this particular bronzer. It’s more of a brown than orange/red, which can make it look really natural. Apply it to the temples of your forehead, angle it downwards from the top of your sideburns towards the corner of your lips. Make sure it gets lighter as you go downwards. I always use an angled blush brush to contour. For a full guide on contouring, check this out!
3) Blush
Use a baby pink, glow-y blush on the apples of your cheek to play up the pinks in your wedding attire!
4) Let Your Eyes Do The Talking!
I applied a glittery bronze all over Sheefa’s lids and smoked it out with a matte brown. Needless to say, liner and lashes add all the drama to wedding makeup. Go full out with your lashes and extend your liner a little over the edge. I smudged the liner using a pencil brush.
5) Pink Lips
Shades of pink are my favourite for most wedding functions because they transition beautifully from day to night! You can always mix a baby pink with a little nude to change up the colour.
