The contest is now closed! The winners are Harsh, Richa and Ashit. Congratulations!
Brace yourselves, the most important awards of the year: The 87th Academy Awards are happening and James Franco and Anne Hathaway are NOT hosting it (thank the Lord, praise the Lord). We are super excited to watch Neil Patrick Harris host this mega event, so much so that we plan to be up at 5.30 am to watch the Academy Awards in our pjs! Now before the talent gets awarded for their work, here’s who we think will win.
Best Picture
American Sniper
Birdman
Boyhood
The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Imitation Game
Selma
The Theory of Everything
Whiplash
Our prediction:
Boyhood – The movie was shot over a period of 11 years! Let that sink in. Now tell me, could you imagine any other movie winning apart from Boyhood? Could you?
Best Actor
Steve Carell – Foxcatcher
Bradley Cooper – American Sniper
Benedict Cumberbatch – The Imitation Game
Michael Keaton – Birdman
Eddie Redmayne – The Theory of Everything
Our prediction:
Michael Keaton – I mean come on, he is Batman! Though Batman will face stiff competition from Eddie Redmayne as Stephen Hawking but I’m tilting over Michael’s amazingly personal performance in Birdman.
Best Actress
Marion Cotillard – Two Days, One Night
Felicity Jones – The Theory of Everything
Julianne Moore – Still Alice
Rosamund Pike – Gone Girl
Reese Witherspoon – Wild
Our prediction:
Julianne Moore – my heart says Rosamund Pike (I’m a Gone Girl fan) but my head says Julianne Moore and more often than not, it’s the head that wins.
Best Supporting Actor
Robert Duvall – The Judge
Ethan Hawke – Boyhood
Edward Norton – Birdman
Mark Ruffalo – Foxcatcher
JK Simmons – Whiplash
Our prediction:
Edward Norton – He deserves that Oscar since he did this movie called Fight Club, with Birdman I really think Edward has a strong chance of winning, but JK Simmons might beat him to it. Might.
Best Supporting Actress
Patricia Arquette – Boyhood
Laura Dern – Wild
Keira Knightley – The Imitation Game
Emma Stone – Birdman
Meryl Streep – Into the Woods
Our prediction:
Patricia Arquette – Because she has no competition in this category, and yes I know Meryl Streep is nominated in this category and even SHE will not win.
Best Director
Alejandro G Inarritu – Birdman
Richard Linklater – Boyhood
Bennett Miller – Foxcatcher
Wes Anderson – The Grand Budapest Hotel
Morten Tyldum – The Imitation Game
Our prediction:
Richard Linklater – the guy filmed ONE movie for 11 years! If that is not a testament to his dedication and patience, nothing is and if he doesn’t get the Oscar, then there’s something seriously wrong with the world.
