Though Shamitabh showed decent momentum over the weekend, there wasn’t much of a push in the weekdays. The film hadn’t seen the kind of reviews that Amitabh Bachchan–Balki films like Cheeni Kum and Paa had seen. The word of mouth was decent, but not excellent, as a result of which the audience footfalls stayed low too.
The film collected around 19 crores at the end of first week, which is low considering the kind of release it had enjoyed. Since Roy is the newest release of the week and has gained a good number of shows, and MSG too has managed to find decent screen space for itself, the shows of Shamitabh have reduced as well. Due to this, the film won’t be able to traverse much of a distance from this point on.
Meanwhile, Baby continued to enjoy decent footfalls in the limited number of shows it was playing, and the film’s collections now stand at around the 92 crore mark. The film would cross the 95 crore mark but 100 crores would be quite a stretch for it now.
The other two releases, Hum Tum Dushman Dushman and Jai Jawaan Jai Kisaan, have proven to be disasters at the box office.
