I, John Doe, take you, Plain Jane, to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.
It’s that time of the year again when love is SUPPOSED to be in the air! Single or committed, don’t we all get a little high on romance during the Valentine’s week? And thanks to the markets being filled with red hearts, cards, red dresses, chocolates and those non-stop rom coms on TV; love is everywhere!
With Cupid’s arrow darting around in all directions during the week of love, I decided to hang around with a few love birds at my college and get an idea of their Valentine’s Day plans. Later, I figured that in most cases, there are 5 types of couples who celebrate the day of love, vows and romance in their own unique ways.
1) The ‘Display Pieces’
YOU know I love you, but the world doesn’t know enough!
This is the motto of these affectionate lovebirds. Whether it is the PDA on Marine Drive or the latest rage – FDA (Facebook Display of Affection); these couples grab every chance of display. Valentine’s Day for them means a day that HAS to be dedicated to intimacy, romance and we know what more!
2) The ‘Materials Required’
Hey baby, I bought you a Chanel this Valentine’s!
Valentine’s Day for these couples is all about the material pleasures! The Rado watch, the Platinum love bands, the Gucci handbag; this is their way of showing their love! I mean, who doesn’t love being showered with gifts? But is that really and truly the essence of love?
3) The ‘Traditional Two’
Red roses, chocolates, a greeting card with hearts… does this ring a bell? Well, then you’re one of the traditional couples on Valentine’s Day. They celebrate it the same old way, with the cliché activities to express their love and they don’t even get tired of it! They are the ones to write a love letter for the 14th of Feb and still get surprised each time they receive one!
4) The ‘Party Peeps’
For some couples, a pool party or an evening bash at a club is their ideal Valentine’s Day celebration! The dance floor on this day is crowded with couples kissing their way through the night! Some rounds of drinks and some peppy dance numbers is a perfect Valentine’s Day for these lovers.
5) The ‘Regular Romantics’
Hey sweetheart, I don’t need 14th of Feb to remind me how much I love you!
These are the best type of couples, in my opinion. They don’t need lavish dinner dates, material items, red hearts or Facebook updates to shower their love for each other. These couples have the most ordinary 14th Feb and are unfazed by the love virus that’s rampant on this day!
What type of a couple are you and your boo?
