After interviewing Ayushmann Khurrana a few times, I can now safely vouch for the fact that he’s the coolest guy in Bollywood. His nonchalant demeanor sets him apart from all his contemporaries and he always exudes an aura of simplicity that makes him super likeable. Naturally, I was quite excited to meet the charmer. I met him recently, during the promotions for his upcoming flick, Hawaizaada (video blog coming soon). I threw a bunch of fun questions his way and he had made me giggle with each and every one of his answers. (PS: He also flaunted his pink chuddies in front of the camera, JUST for us!).

Team MissMalini: When was your first flight?
Ayushmann Khurrana: My first flight was in the year 2001. I was 16 at the time. And I had flown from Delhi to Bangalore to take the Karnataka CET (Common Entrance Test) exams. And I couldn’t clear the test!
Team MM: What question do you hate answering?
AK: Are you an actor or a singer? I’m still trying to figure this out by the way!
Team MM: What song are you currently humming?
AK: I am currently humming my own song because I recently recorded my song Dil Hai Naadaan for Hawaizaada. It’s a ghazal by Miza Ghalib. There are more than a thousand compositions based on this ghazal. And it’s my own humble tribute to the master poet.
Team MM: Describe yourself in three words.
AK: It would be real, low-maintenance (laughs) and I suppose I can say I am multi-talented.
(Team MM: SO true!)
Team MM: Tell us a joke!
AK: Whats wrong with you? What kind of a question is this?!
Team MM: This is what we want – to catch you off guard!
AK: Really? Joke kya abhi sunaoon inko. Koi joke bataao yaar.
Team MM: If your house was on fire, what would you save first?
AK: Nothing. I would just get out of the house immediately!
Team MM: If Team MissMalini comes to your house, what would you cook for us?
AK: I would cook you aloo parathas because I think you guys need exactly that, especially because you stay in Mumbai, you clearly love the colour pink (after seeing our pink camera and pink pen) AND I don’t think any of you are true foodies!
Team MM: Name your favourite eating joint.
AK: Cafe Indigo in Andheri or Parel, anywhere I go. I am addicted to Indigo!
Team MM: What do you wish people knew more about you?
AK: About my dancing skills. Nobody knows that I can dance. In Hawaizaada, you will see a little bit of my dancing skills. But I want to do a film where I can dance.
Twitter Question: Do you think you look like Harry Potter in Hawaizaada?
AK: I think it’s the eyebrows you are talking about.
(Team MM: We totally think it’s that overall nerdy look he’s sporting.)
AK: Of course, yes. It’s the glasses and eyebrows. It’s the nerdy genius Harry Potter in the film. But it was a deliberate effort to show that vulnerability in the character.
Team MM: When was the last time you Googled yourself?
AK: I search myself on Twitter these days because a lot of people are writing and tweeting about Hawaizaada. The keywords are Hawaizaada, Ayushmann, Ayushmaan, Ayushman. Thanks to my astrologer father who has given me such amazing spellings.
Team MM: What’s the naughtiest thing you have done?
AK: Naughtiest? No. I will tell you the KINKIEST thing I have ever done. I am wearing pink boxers right now. I will show you. (WATCH THE VIDEO!!!!)
Team MM: What’s your weakness?
AK: I have a crazy sweet tooth for Indian sweets. I can’t live without Indian sweets. My mom sends rasgullas from Chandigarh. Every month, she also sends pinnis. Do you know what pinni is? It’s made from flour, ghee and nuts. It’s a Punjabi delicacy!
Team MM: What is your strength?
AK: My strength lies in my simplicity. I just keep it simple and real. I have never made any demands in life.
Team MM: What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
AK: My dimples are very deep.
