2015 will see its first major big ticket film in the form of Baby on the weekend leading to the Republic Day holiday. An Akshay Kumar film is special, considering the kind of expectations that come with it – and in the case of Baby, it’s multi-fold since Neeraj Pandey is wearing the director’s hat. For the actor-director jodi that had delivered another credible film (Special 26) a couple of years ago, Baby is carrying a lot of weight with it. Even more so since the promo has created a big impact ever since it was unveiled and people are already expecting it to be another special act from Akshay.
The obvious question that comes to one’s mind is – Is Akshay all set to deliver a performance of a lifetime in Baby?
Says the soft-spoken director:
See, Akshay has done over 100 films in more than 20 years. He has seen a hugely eventful career with many notable performances. What I can say though is that he is way better than what he was in Special 26; that’s what I would say about his performance.
Meanwhile it is pretty much obvious that together they are certainly a team – especially consider the manner in which Akshay respects Neeraj, and vice versa.
Says Neeraj:
There is no denying the fact that there is certain level of comfort we share. That contributes a lot to the making of the film, especially when you are working in such kind of scale, set up and setting. We were shooting Baby at a very tight schedule and the story was spread half way across the world. It wouldn’t have been possible if not for an association with a likeminded person like Akshay who shares the same wavelength.
