The 72nd Golden Globes was a fun night to say the least. These awards have always been associated with biting humour, celebrity bashing and a lot of alcohol. But all in all, these awards sometimes work as spoilers for the Oscars as many of the winners are usually the same. So without taking much of your time, here’s the list of the big winners from the Golden Globes 2015!
1) Best Movie (Drama)
Boyhood
Filmed over a period of 12 years with the same star cast, this experimental movie has been the ‘biggest leap of faith in film history‘ according to the director Richard Linklater. Boyhood is truly a one-of-a-kind experience and it shouldn’t be missed by cinema lovers.
2) Best Actor (Drama)
Eddie Redmayne, The Theory of Everything
He played the great Stephen Hawking, he’d have to win don’t you think? Eddie very sweetly thanked his wife and fanboy-ed over Robert Duvall. Who wouldn’t fanboy over the man who played Tom Hagen in the Godfather series?
3) Best Actress (Drama)
Julianne Moore, Still Alice
Will this better her chances of winning her first Oscar…let’s wait and watch!
4) Best Movie (Comedy or Musical)
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Finally! Wes Anderson took home some silverware (or Golden-ware)!
5) Best Actor (Comedy or Musical)
Michael Keaton, Birdman
Essaying the role of a washed-up Hollywood actor, known for playing iconic superhero Birdman, trying to reinvent his career by directing and starring in a Broadway play; Michael Keaton (who was the original Batman) was basically portraying himself. He did a great great job and that’s what got him the prize.
6) Best Actress (Comedy or Musical)
Amy Adams, Big Eyes
She does have big eyes. But according to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, so does Emma Stone!
7) Best Director
Richard Linklater, Boyhood
He took 12 years to make this one, if he didn’t win this one, there would have been violence!
8) Best Supporting Actress
Patricia Arquette, Boyhood
Beating Meryl Streep is a biggie and Patricia did just that. She also gave one of the best quotes of the evening, after hugging Streep, she thanked the star:
For giving me a hug, I hope your DNA transferred to me.
10) Best Supporting Actor
J.K. Simmons, Whiplash
He beat Edward Norton so I’m a little sad.
Television
11) Best TV Show (Drama)
The Affair
This Showtime drama beat shows like House Of Cards and Game Of Thrones! That is a big deal.
12) Best Actor (Drama)
Kevin Spacey, House of Cards
After winning, he said
This is just the beginning of my revenge.

13) Best Actress (Drama)
Ruth Wilson, The Affair
She also played Jane Eyre in the BBC mini-series and I loved her ever since!
14) Best TV Show (Comedy)
Transparent
This Amazon drama based on the sensitive topic of transgenders was pegged as a favourite since the start!
15) Best Actor (Comedy)
Jeffrey Tambor, Transparent
Jeffrey gave a very touching speech, thanking the transgender community for supporting him in such a difficult role.
16) Best Actress (Comedy)
Gina Rodriguez, Jane the Virgin
Gina is the first CW network actress to win a Golden Globe and her touching speech talking about her Latino heritage and her upbringing touched a lot of hearts!

17) Best Miniseries or TV Movie
Fargo
Inspired by the 1996 movie of the same name, this dark comedy has been a critical success since day 1. It did face tough competition from the Matthew Mcconaughey and Woody Harrelson show True Detective, but I guess the votes preferred the adventures of Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman.
18) Best Actor (Miniseries or TV Movie)
Billy Bob Thornton, Fargo
He beat Matthew Mcconaughey’s portrayal of Rust Cohle, that is a BIG deal!
19) Best Supporting Actor (Series, Miniseries or TV movie)
Matt Bomer, The Normal Heart
HE IS SO CUTE!
20) Best Actress (Miniseries or TV Movie)
Maggie Gyllenhaal, The Honorable Woman
Maggie Gyllenhaal is an excellent actress, no surprise she’d win this one!
21) Best Supporting actress, (Series, Miniseries or TV movie)
Joanne Froggatt, Downton Abbey
Her powerful performance as a rape survivor in Downton Abbey made her a favourite in this category!
22) Cecil B. DeMille (Lifetime Achievement)
George Clooney
In his thank you speech, he paid a tribute to his wife! I’m dying.
Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be your husband.
