Most women are afraid to try the oversized trend because they think they might look like bag ladies. However we at BandraRoad disagree. There might be days that you don’t want to get dressed, are bored, or sick…(or even bummed out), the first thing you lean towards is dressing in items that you can easily disappear into…that’s why oversized clothing has such a bad rep. Although days like those are inevitable, make sure that you don’t forget about your comfy clothes even on those good days! Luckily for us, oversized fashion is far from frumpy and shapeless, which makes dressing up a lot more exciting. So we at BandraRoad have put together some style tips and inspirations to help you turn your oversized pieces into one cool ensemble.
1. The Oversized Tee:
I know I talk about the oversized tee a lot, that’s because it just looks good and suits every body type. Pair it with skinny jeans or leggings; it even looks good with skirts and shorts. You can dress it up with cool accessories and statement neck pieces. Sky is the limit here. Printed oversized tees work well if you’re going for that modern grunge look.
2. Oversized Dresses:
It’s not as bad as you think right! I personally love oversized T-shirt dresses, other than being super comfy they look great when teamed with a nice big tote and sneakers. To dress it up a bit, maybe pair it with cute ankle booties. However sneakers or open toe sandals always look the best.
3. Oversized Jackets and Cover Ups:
I own a ton of oversized cover ups. But my absolute favourite is my Vintage Levi’s Men’s Denim Jacket! I bought it at a thrift store in New York and have been in love ever since. I can team it up with almost everything I have in my closet, be it a dress or simple skinny jeans and a tank. If you ever go thrift store shopping, be sure to look out for jackets like this.
4. Oversized White Shirts:
Now most women do own a crisp white fitted shirt in their closets, but have you tried experimenting with a shirt twice your size? Well, I think its time you did. If you don’t own one, maybe peak into your dad’s, boyfriends or husbands closet and try one on. You can style it over fitted jeans or even a skirt. Dress it up with fun statement jewellery.
5. Oversized Scarves:
During those chilly months, the best way to layer your outfit is to wrap yourself in a comfy oversized scarf. Scarves like these are a good way of accessorising your outfit, while keeping you warm. You can play with colour, texture and prints. Even if you live in cities that don’t have a winter season, oversized scarves can be your best travel accessory.
So there you have it, 5 reasons why you should definitely try the oversized trend. As far as we’re concerned, baggy is not back, it’s here for the long run. So guys, go ahead and pick up pieces that are not always fitted, go baggy and you’ll realise that its easier to breathe and you still look stylish. We at BandraRoad would love to see what you come up with.
