PK has done the unthinkable. The film has managed to breach the 300 crore mark, hence forming a new club in Bollywood. While 100 crore has been in vogue for some time and 200 crore is the ‘in’ thing, not many were expecting a 300 crore club to open in quick time. However, this has happened now and Anushka Sharma is giving Aamir Khan good company in this Rajkumar Hirani directed film, which is going strong till date.
Considering the kind of huge expectations that the film was carrying ever since it was announced, was Anushka scared to some extent at the least?
See, I would never try to go towards the result of my film and think how much money it is going to make. I can just not look into my films like that. I would rather want to know if people have loved the film and whether they have loved my performance; that’s something which is more important to me. Jab woh sab theek hoga toh money toh aa hi jaayegi. Let me quote from Hirani’s own 3 Idiots – ‘You chase excellence and success will come to you’. That has been my thought as well.
When it comes to Anushka’s performance in the film, Hirani appears to be quite happy with what she has brought on screen. Still, one hears that she always sought his nod of approval quite explicitly after every scene!
I am always unsure and doubt myself. In fact whenever someone compliments me, I feel like that they are lying. That mujhe encourage karne ke liye bas aise hi bol rahe hain. I am never happy with myself till a director says it. Just by myself, I can never bring myself to say that ‘Bhai waah, maine kya performance diya hai’. So in order to be 200% sure, I need that kind of encouragement from the director.
With Anurag Kashyap (Bombay Velvet), Zoya Akhtar (Dil Dhadakne Do), Navdeep Singh (NH10) and Karan Johar (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil) as her next four directors, one looks forward to knowing more about the words of encouragement that came from them as well!
