Guys! December is finally here and you know what that means. This is the most awaited month of the year when it comes to holidays and just plain chilling out. This is the month in which you simply cannot deny yourself the comfort of a cosy bed and blanket! It’s just impossible to do anything productive during times like these. So chill, put your feet up, grab a bucket of popcorn or a steaming mug of chai, call in sick at work and re-visit the best decade ever: the ’90s! And we can’t think of a better way to do that than to watch these insanely fun and passionately romantic Bollywood movies we’ve loved our entire lives. Feel free to add your suggestions below 🙂
1) Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
Raj and Simran‘s love story will complete a 1000 weeks on December 12th. We can’t even call this a list of romance movies unless and until Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is featured in this!
2) Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya
I love, LOVE this movie! It’s just so cute, and the songs are amazing. On top of that I think Kajol and Salman looked great together. Speaking of, they should really think of doing a movie together again, like now.
Not to forget, this movie also had an iconic song which showed the world what Salman looks like without a shirt. And once it was seen, there was no going back!
3) Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha
Who knew Kajol would star in nearly every movie in this list? She’s more prominent than the Khans here. It’s good to see her with her real-life hubby – they make a super couple, don’t you think?
And yes, I have put the fact aside that this movie is a copy of the Meg Ryan starrer French Kiss, because look at those sunglasses man! So…much…swag. #LoveThe90s.
4) Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai
I’ll admit, I’ve always been a Shah Rukh Khan fan, but there’s something about Salman from the ’90s. He was the bad boy you couldn’t help but lust for! Like Shah Rukh would definitely be the guy you marry and settle down with whereas Salman is that notorious hunk you just want to get naughty with… if you know what I mean.
5) Dil Toh Pagal Hai
As much as I love SRK, this movie is all the more amazing because of the epic dance off between Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor! It was also aptly titled the ‘dance of envy‘. #LoveThe90sEvenMore
I also think Rahul was always better off with Nisha rather than Pooja, but maybe that’s my opinion because Karisma was one of THE most coolest heroines of the ’90s!
6) Rangeela
I don’t even have to say why Rangeela was one of the best movies of my generation! I’ll just let this scene do the talking:
Also, this movie had Jackie Shroff along with the wonderful Urmila Matondkar and not to mention the brilliant Aamir Khan. A perfect love triangle.
7) Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is proof that you will end up with the one you’re meant to be with eventually. This movie also some how justifies a girl totally transforming herself for a man because, well come on, it’s Shah Rukh Khan, I’d rainbow dye my hair for a chance to be with him!
8) Dil
Clearly I have a thing for shady sunglasses. But you have to admit, Dil was a perfect pot boiler with the perfect songs! Especially the one below which is my all time favourite!
Ladki hai ya chadi hai? Who knows?
9) Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
This movie makes so happy in the first half and so sad in the second. This movie basically makes me bipolar.
10) Ishq
Because Mr. Lova Lova.
Best Song Ever. #LoveThe90sSoMuchItsCrazy
