A few weeks ago (on Skype with my mom and sis from London) I suggested that my mother dearest should write a guest blog for me, about who she thinks should date in Bollywood! (This is mostly because every time I tell her about a new budding Bollywood romance (or a murky illicit un-blog-able rumour; yes, perks of being my mom *lol*) she generally tut-tuts and says, “ohoo, kaise adjust karenge?” or “that’s very bad!” (or hilariously sometimes, “she’s too fast for him! Nachayegi usko!”) and I completely die laughing. It’s actually incredibly cute, how seriously she takes it all and that is why you have to give her props (and forgive her any trespass) for the amazing logic with which she has chosen these matches!
Now before you read this blog (and potentially lose your sh*t) there are a few things you should know about my mother;
1. My mom loves Bollywood. (Here is a list of her all-time favourite movies.)
2. My mom is mildly old-fashioned. I mean she’s over 70-years old! (Even though she really doesn’t look it, *high-five to myself for scoring THOSE killer genes*)
3. My mom believes that a happy marriage consists of; a lot of love, a little compromise and a significant amount of maturity. (Also; that once you get married, you tend to “settle down” and act less volatile.)
4. My mother was told (by me) that the couples she choses to matchmake have to all be unmarried, but not necessarily single! 😛
Now go ahead and get into my mom’s head and leave me a comment below if you want to read more of her blogs 🙂
1 Kangana Ranaut with Dino Moria
My mom says, “Both look very sophisticated and serious in life. Dino has had many affairs and did not make a commitment, but I feel Kangana would be the right person as she is mature, serious and well-mannered. He will be the well dressed man in her life.”
Ooooh, mom, looks like you might be onto something! I dug up this video blog I did back in 2010 about the very same thing! Remember that mystery kiss?
2. Sonakshi Sinha with Arjun Kapoor
My mom says, “Both are working because they come from a flimy background. I do not see them going like this for too long. It’s a matter of time they will give up because they are too fond of eating.”
OMG. Mom! *LOL*
3. Shraddha Kapoor with Aditya Roy Kapur
My mom says, “They are very well suited and have chemistry as well. Both are talented and will go a long way. They seem like go-getters and are ambitious.”
BUT are they really dating or just good friends?
4. Nargis Fakhri with Uday Chopra
My mom says, “They are already seeing each other and I think will be more stable in life once married.”
See! I told you my mom’s a great believer in “settling down” 🙂
5. Parineeti Chopra with Ranveer Singh
My mom says, “Because both are so bubbly and enjoy themselves a lot. Both are fond of fooling around and look good as well. As they are so similar it would be easy for them to understand each other too.”
DISCLAIMER: Now from this point onwards you really have to have a fabulous sense of humor or just really get my mom.
Also please don’t be offended by the next two matches and try to keep in mind, that again, my mom is OVER 70-years-old and is (to her mind) trying to be both open-minded and practical at the same time! *ok here goes*
6. Deepika Padukone with Ranbir Kapoor
My mom says, “Even though Ranbir is all ready to marry Katrina, he is not really all there with her. I think it’s Neetu who is pushing him there. The chemistry between Ranbir & Deepika is still there even after their so called break up. They are planning to work in coming films too despite their break up. The spark of love is still there which deepens when they work together.”
My mom has also told me (on more than one occasion) that she thinks Katrina might have trouble “adjusting” in the Kapoor khandaan*lol* besides, she has a point about the RK-DP chemistry, no?
DISCLAIMER 2: Go back and read disclaimer 1. Read it twice, take a deep breath and open your mind… 🙂
7. Rekha with Salman Khan
My mom says, “Both are so fussy about their would-be life partners. On a recent episode of Bigg boss 8 the chemistry between the two was quite electrifying. When Salman told Rekha that he used to follow her while she went jogging on his bicycle, and had a crush on her, Rekha replied that he was too young for her then. To which he said not much just 10 years. In this day a 10-year age difference hardly matters. I think they would suit each other very well because they know a person needs some space too after getting married and plus both are narcissists too.”
Baboom! And that is why ladies and gentlemen my mom is the BAWSE 🙂 Please be nice and leave her a happy shiny comment below, she loves reading this blog and comments on nearly every single blog and Facebook post. I am sure she would love to hear from you and I would really appreciate it if you take this post in the light-hearted way in which it was meant. To quote one of my favourite Bollywood films of all time (Roja), “S-O-R-R-Y, hum bure to hain par itne bhi nahin, thode achche bhi hain” 🙂
PS. Now go re-watch that BB8 snippet and tell me did Rekha say Big B on purpose when she said, “pyaar se bhi daar nahin lagta, woh to main beintehaan karsakti hoon, daar lagta hain to mujhe ek hi cheez se darr lagta hai, Big B se, Bigg Boss se.” *O-M-G-!*
