After suffering a low opening weekend, neither Ungli nor Zid showed an improvement over the weekdays. In fact they both earned as much in the entire week that should ideally have been earned over the weekend. With 19 crore coming in for Ungli and 6 crore being accumulated by Zid, it was yet another forgettable week for Bollywood – what with a mere 25 crore worth of tickets sold at the box office. With not even a single film managing even 50 crore ever since the arrival of Happy New Year, these have been disappointing times for the industry.
With a long delayed Ungli out of his way, Karan Johar can now move on to a fresh slate of films which are looking really interesting in the months to come. With Brothers as his next big ticket film, Karan would be looking forward to his Agneepath director Karan Malhotra making a compelling action drama, with Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra heading the cast.
On the other hand Anubhav Sinha will be moving on to his newer assignments. In fact he’s also slated to begin his new film as a director many years after his Shah Rukh Khan starrer Ra. One. We wonder what’s in store next!
The third release of the week, Zed Plus, couldn’t register any collections whatsoever and folded up in a matter of a few lakhs.
