‘Na commitment, Na appointment – Only punishment’
Now this is the dialogue mouthed by Ajay Devgn in Action Jackson. Obviously, the word ‘commitment’ immediately reminds one of the iconic of Salman Khan dialogue, ‘Ek Baar Jo Maine Commitment Kar Di‘ from Wanted, which was again directed by Prabhu Dheva, who is now at the helm of Action Jackson. However, when you listen closely, you’ll realise that Ajay’s dialogue also carries a reference (of the word ‘appointment’) to one of the most notable dialogues from an Amitabh Bachchan starrer.
Remember Big B’s baritone when he challenges death in the Police Commissioner’s office by mouthing the famous dialogue – ‘Aaj raat ko maut ke saath mera appointment hain, maalum!‘ in Agneepath?
Yeah, you do now!
Guess it is pretty much apparent that it isn’t just Salman but also Bachchan Sr. who is being referred to here. However, quiz Prabhu Dheva and he laughs it away, “Well, of course I am aware about ‘commitment’ but as for ‘appointment’, well frankly it isn’t a conscious call taken. It just happened in the tone of the dialogue. With ‘punishment’ coming into picture, it looked good.”
While one waits to see how exactly Ajay brings these references in Action Jackson, which is now just three weeks away, his three looks (which have just been unveiled) only add on to the intrigue quotient.
Prabhu Dheva says:
“Ajay sir is a very intense actor. In the film, his energy level is that of someone who is 15 years younger. Also, he has displayed a gamut of emotions here. The way he has danced is something never seen before while his fights are very stylish too.”
No wonder, he is happy with all the ‘commitment’ shown by his lead actor and has come out mighty impressed after the whole experience.
“He is very cool,” adds the filmmaker, “He doesn’t differentiate between anyone on the sets, whether it the assistant directors or the writer. He is so sorted out and has made sure that Action Jackson turns out to be an entertaining movie.”
Well, in that case we would love to take an ‘appointment’ pronto.
