On a Bigg Boss 8 episode last week, Ali Quli Mirza had apparently touched Sonali Raut inappropriately under the sheets. The viewers and the contestants applauded the makers of the show on having handled the situation well and punishing Ali for his actions. He was stripped off his captaincy, nominated for eviction and banned from the opportunity of becoming a captain in the future. Sonali too was appreciated on making it clear to Ali that touching without consent is just not okay!
In the wake of last week’s incident, what Parineeti Chopra did in the Bigg Boss house just doesn’t go down well. Parineeti, Ranveer Singh and Ali Zafar, entered the house to promote their upcoming film, Kill Dil. The stars engaged the contestants in a fun game and all seemed hunky dory until it didn’t. During the game, Parineeti suddenly accused Ali of touching her inappropriately and stormed out of the house. Obviously, the contestants were left in a state of confusion and shock and did not know what to think of Ali, especially after last week’s episode.
The stars then joined Salman Khan on stage and all of them condemned Ali for his behaviour with women on the show and went on about how they couldn’t believe that he’d act fresh with such a major actor. Just when you thought shit hit the ceiling, Salman and Parineeti started laughing and went all “Gotcha!” on Ali and the contestants. Everyone laughed about the super success of their prank. Uhh… WHAT?
So Parineeti trivialized molestation and sexual harassment on national TV and showed women all over the country how they can wrongly accuse a man? I don’t know for sure if Ranveer and Ali were in on it.
So the thing is I love Parineeti, I do! The woman has always stood up for the right thing and has voiced her opinions freely over important matters. She has never followed the herd and has made it on her own terms. Then, why would she make such an insensitive “joke” about molestation in a country like ours? I really hope she comes up with an explanation. It needn’t be an apology, just an explanation. I’m counting on you, Parineeti.
What are your thoughts on this?
