In a year that has created a record of sorts for women-centric releases in Bollywood, Sonali Cable and Mumbai 125 KM have ended it on a mighty low. Not that any of the two films were expected to do much, but the manner in which they opened and then folded up inside a week was pretty disappointing. Sonali Cable was still expected to bring in some moolah due to the name Rohan Sippy attached to it – however, none of that helped as even 1 crore came at a bargain. On the other hand, Mumbai 125 KM did slightly better due to the 3D, horror and sex factors, but is still a disaster nonetheless.
In between all this mayhem, Bang Bang added some more to its collections, hence coming close to the 180 crore mark. Haider found some footfalls too, hence rounding up around 60 crore. Between the two films, around 240 crore have come in which is the highest that Bollywood has seen in the case of a much-hyped clash. Also, this has been the biggest haul ever for pre-Diwali releases, hence bringing an end to the myth that films arriving at this time in theaters do not work.
