2014 has been a fairly busy year for Priyanka Chopra. She has already seen the release of Mary Kom (which has grossed over 100 crore worldwide), she has all but wrapped up Dil Dhadakne Do and now she has already started shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Bajirao Mastani. Not only that, before the close of year, she will also be hitting the sets for Madhur Bhandarkar‘s Madamji.
Says Priyanka:
“When I pick and choose a film, I want to tell a story that is entertaining and yet there is something in there where I make a good contribution. This is what you would find in each of my next three releases. Zoya Akhtar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Madhur Bhandarkar – all of them believe in the same thought. I want to be able to bridge that gap where entertainment meets content.”
While the shooting of Mary Kom was coming to a close, Priyanka started work on Dil Dhadakne Do. Now she has two of her upcoming films that will be shot almost back to back.
“Well, that has always been the case with me where I have worked on back to back films. I am really proud that I get the kind of work that I do. I am completely made by my fans. The only people that help me stand as an actress today in the industry are my fans and the day they turn their back on me it will be over. I would then have to go and do something else. However, till they want to watch me, I will continue doing as much work as I get and push myself because that’s what I enjoy doing most. Entertaining people is what I do best!”
At times, a film of hers may not have turned out to be truly entertaining. In that case, hasn’t she ever felt like staying away from it so that her fans aren’t disappointed? “No, because over and above anything else, I consider myself as a professional. I can’t just slack on the film because I feel that it’s going to be unsuccessful; that’s not fair,” she reasons.
Guess that’s a fair argument, Priyanka!
