Looks like there’s no stopping Aamir Khan. We are well aware that through his offbeat films and TV talk show, Satyamev Jayate, Khan has found a unique voice advocating for a wide range of social issues and trying to bring about a difference in society from the bottom level. Aamir, who was recently appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF in South Asia, quickly took over his role as he arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday to promote proper nutrition for children. During the visit, he was also officially inducted as a regional goodwill ambassador for nutrition.

At a press conference held in the capital city, the actor seemed very serious about the role he has taken on and called the right of South Asian children to nutrition “the battle against unseen enemy malnutrition and all of us need to be its part.” He was resolute about doing what he could to ensure that the children have access to the nutrition they deserve.

In the course of his three-day visit to the Himalayan nation, Khan attended a nutrition program in the Kapilvastu District initiated by a local women’s group and visited various villages in western Nepal to check the functionality of health facility centers. He also visited Simrauli village where he interacted with mothers and female community health volunteers and initiated awareness on the issue. Khan then met Nepali Prime Minister Sushil Koirala at the latter’s official residence in Kathmandu to discuss the issue of malnutrition in children as a shared concern for both Nepal and India. Aamir also made a quick stopover at Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Gautama Buddha, before heading back to the capital where he shared his experience in Nepal during a press conference organized by UNICEF. As he wrapped up his visit on Thursday, the Dhoom 3 actor also expressed his desire to visit Nepal in the near future with his family.
